Use these written directions ... not GPS - it doesn't always work in the Yaak!!

FILL UP YOUR GAS TAKE IN BONNER FERRY OR TROY/LIBBY!!

Heading East from Bonners Ferry, Idaho:

Head East on Hwy 2 ... after you cross into Montana look for Hwy Marker 3 ... at about 3.5 you will come to an intersection Hwy 2 and Hwy 508 (Yaak River Road). Slow Down ...Turn LEFT onto Hwy 508.

Heading West from Libby/Troy, Montana:

Head West on Hwy 2 ... after you pass through Troy you will look for Hwy Marker 4 (about 10 miles past Troy) ... just past it on the RIGHT you will come to an intersection of Hwy 2 and Hwy 508 (Yaak River Road). Slow Down ... Turn RIGHT onto Hwy 508.

You will now be traveling NORTH on Hwy 508/Yaak River Road.

WATCH OUT FOR GAME (MAINLY DEER) ON THE HIGHWAY!! DON'T GO ANY FASTER THAN ABOUT 55 MPH!! WATCH OUT FOR POTHOLES!! 

About Hwy Marker 6 is a turnout for the YAAK RIVER FALLS that is a beautiful place to pull over and park to get out and look at the Yaak River Falls ... be careful to not get near the edge!!

Continue heading NORTH on Hwy 508 ... at Mile Marker 28 is the Yaak Community. There is the Yaak Mercantile/Tavern where you can use the bathroom, buy snacks or a meal (lunch and/or dinner), and souvenirs. They do sell diesel or regular gas at a cost increase!

Continue heading North on Hwy 508/92 until You come to about Mile Marker 36.5 where you will come to a "Y" in the road. Continue STRAIGHT onto the UPPER FORD ROAD for about 5 miles ... until you pass the Federal Building (log cabin) and come to a STOP SIGN about a 1/4 mile.

Go STRAIGHT THROUGH THE INTERSECTION onto the North Fork Yaak River Road (no street sign up)!! Go over TWO CATTLE GUARDS ... then look for the SECOND DRIVEWAY ON THE RIGHT which has a sign, "WOOD CREEK TRAIL" ... turn RIGHT onto it ... FOLLOW IT TO THE END (ABOUT A 1/4 MILE) and YOU will see the CABIN!!
